Whirlybird Installation · Beaumaris
Beaumaris' 1950s and 60s homes were mostly built before roof ventilation was standard, so many roof cavities here have little more than gable vents to shed heat. The suburb's open, sun-facing position near the bay means those cavities absorb plenty of summer heat through the day, and the steady sea breeze usually gives a whirlybird more than enough wind to work with. A turbine draws that hot, trapped air out continuously, easing the load on the rooms below and reducing how hard the roof radiates heat into the evening. On the lower-pitched modernist rooflines common here we flash the base carefully so the install stays weatherproof.
Beaumaris' bayside breeze gives a whirlybird plenty of wind to work with, and venting the roof cavity takes real heat off homes that were built well before ventilation was standard practice.
Local roof weather
Beaumaris sees around ~6 days above 35°C a year, and on those days an unventilated roof cavity turns into a heat store right above your ceilings.

The process
We look at roof size, pitch and existing airflow to work out how many vents you actually need — no over-selling.
Vents go high on the roof where the hottest air collects, balanced with the eave intake so air can actually move through.
On a tiled roof we lift the tiles, cut a neat penetration, and bed the flashing so it is fully weatherproof.
The turbine is seated in the flashing collar and the tiles are reinstated over the apron, leaving a clean, leak-free finish.
Installation differs by roof: on tiled roofs we cut and flash the penetration under the tile course, while on metal roofs the vent is flashed directly into the sheeting. Both need the flashing done properly — a rushed vent install is a classic future leak.
Installations are carried out by an insured team and the workmanship is backed by a 7-Year Workmanship Guarantee and a 10-Year Dulux Acratex Material Warranty.
